If you haven’t mastered the complex AOC’s of Burgundy (and really, even among wine aficionados, there are not many who have), you probably have read enough to know that the Pinot Noirs from the Côte d’Or come at a premium and can be hit or miss. But venture further south to the Côte Chalonnais and you can find committed and talented producers making Pinot Noirs with plenty of fruit ripeness, elegance and terroir for under $30.
Wine Spectator : 90pts This red is marked by its beautiful silky texture, a foil for the flavors of sweet cherry, spice, leather and a hint of truffle. Rich, this is softening nicely and begs for roast chicken, with a good firm finish
Food Pairings : roasted chicken, mild beef strews, grilled salmon
