Wines by the Region

Crafted from the classic 2004 vintage by revered wine consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt, Château La Bienfaisance is a delicious wine and an excellent value compared to the 2005 vintages.

It is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc.  In the glass, the wine has an intense, ruby red to almost purple color.  Supple and round, with aromas of black cherry and cassis and a mild herbaceousness, this medium-bodied Bordeaux features superb ripeness, firm tannins and a good texture.  The wine received 89 points from leading U.S. wine critic Robert Parker.  Cases are 6 bottles.

Made from a blend of southern red grape varietals (52% Carignan, 24% Grenache Noir, 18% Mourvedre and 6% Syrah), the wine is cherry red with flashes of black in the glass with an intense nose of black currants, raspberries and licorice.  As the wine opens, the wine takes on aromas of mellow black fruits with slightly spicy, elegant finish.  The wine is firm and structured with smooth and silky tannins.   This is a wine with individuality and character. 

Recommended (3 stars) by Decanter; 88 points Wine Spectator.  Only 500 cases made.  Drink now through 2012.

This delightful wine will transport you to the summer in the south of France. 

Made from a blend of 50% Grenache Noir, 30% Cinsault and 20% Syrah, the 2007 Rosé from Château Moyau is crisp, dry and refreshing.  Intense salmon trending to a pink grapefruit color in the glass, the wine exhibits strawberry and ripe raspberry flavors with notes of rose florals.   The wine’s fruitiness is balanced by its lively acidity, while its terroir is revealed in subtle mineral nuances. 

Perfect on its own on a hot summer day, this versatile wine is a natural with hors devours and also pairs well with BBQ, grilled fish with sweet-tangy salsas, and most Caribbean or Mexican-inspired foods.

Winner of the Pouilly-Fumé Trophy and Gold Medal at the prestigious International Wine Challenge 2008, “La Renardière” 2007 Pouilly-Fumé is Domaine Bouchie-Chatellier’s signature wine. 

Tart and crisp with a good length.  La Renardière displays the classic gunflint aromas, lively fruit, grassy flavors and minerality for which Pouilly-Fumé is famous.   A delicious, vibrant wine.

Domaine Bouchie-Chatellier’s special reserve, produced only in select years and in small quantities (10,000 bottles) that sell out quickly. 

“Premiere Millésimé” 2006 Pouilly-Fumé is a full-bodied and complex Sauvignon Blanc with concentrated fruit (white peach, citrus and gooseberry), herbaceous and gunflint notes, minerality and the acidity required to give the wine balance and structure.

Only 5000 bottles of “La Roche” Mâcon-Vergisson are produced each year.  While Decanter has not yet reviewed the 2007 vintage, the acclaimed wine magazine highly recommended “La Roche” 2006, Mâcon-Vergisson in a blind tasting of 168 wines from the Mâcon-Village region, rating it four out of five stars (one of only 14 wines in the tasting to receive this ranking). 

Wine Spectator has given the 2007 vintage a very favorable review:  "This is rich and tinged with oak spice, but also underscored by a vibrant structure. Offers peach, pear, vanilla and clove notes. There's good depth for the vintage, with a lingering finish, 89 points"

Rich and slightly rustic in style, the wine has aromas of plums, cassis, blackberries and herby bramble, with candied fruit and chocolate notes that yield to licorice, spice and tar as it unfolds.  Ripe tannins and acidity give the wine structure.  Full bodied with a long finish, the wine is made from a blend of 30% Cinsault, 30% Syrah, 20% Carignan, and 20% Grenache.  Drink now through 2012.

Softer on the palette than its bigger fuller-bodied sister wine Chateau Cantinot.  It has round soft tannins notes of tobacco, cacao, black fruit and prunes, plus a hint of fresh herbs.  Ten percent of Malbec is added to the blend of 80% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.  Made by consulting winemaker Olivier Dauga, who was recently named Winemaker of the Year 2009 in the prestigious Gault & Millau guide.
